passes in another growing-up-fast performance , and the Cleveland Browns ended one of the NFL’s longest streaks of road futility on Sunday with a 35-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, who lost quarterback Andy Dalton to a thumb injury.Cleveland (4-6-1) got its first road win since 2015, emphatically snapping a streak of 25 straight road losses that was one shy of the Lions’ NFL record. The Browns also ended a run of seven straight losses to their intrastate rival.“This team is very scary,” safety Damarious Randall said. “We feel like we can go out and blow up any game.”And just as the Browns’ unabashed safety had predicted, it wasn’t even close. The Browns surged ahead 28-0 as former head coach Hue Jackson watched helplessly from the opposite sideline. Jackson couldn’t win with the Browns 鈥?only three victories in two-plus seasons. Nor could he beat them as a special defensive assistant with the Bengals (5-6), who lost for the fifth time in six games.Seeing their former coach on the other sideline added to the Browns’ motivation.“Somebody who was in our locker room is asking us to play for him, and then he goes to a different team,” said Mayfield, who didn’t feel like talking to Jackson when they met on the field after the game.Randall had predicted during the week that if Bengals receiver A.J. Green didn’t play, the Browns would dominate. Green was out again with a toe injury, and Randall had a hand in making his prediction hold up.He picked off Dalton in the second quarter, ran out of bounds and handed the ball to Jackson , who was fired last month by the Browns. Jackson responded by tapping him on the helmet.“He just said thank you for the ball,” Randall said.Dalton hurt the thumb on his passing hand while trying to recover a fumble in the third quarter and didn’t return. He was still being evaluated after the game. The Browns turned the fumble recovery into Mayfield’s fourth TD pass for a 35-7 lead. Dalton was 10 of 17 for 100 yards with a touchdown and an interception. From the opening drive, it was all Cleveland. The Browns’ 28 first-half points were their most since 1991, when they scored 31 against the Colts.“It hurts,” Bengals receiver Tyler Boyd said. “It hurts a lot.”Mayfield was at the center of it all, completing 14 of 18 passes as the Browns surged ahead by 21 points. He was coming off his best game, a three-TD performance during a 28-16 win over Atlanta that sent Cleveland into its bye week. Mayfield finished 19 of 26 for 258 yards as the Browns essentially ran out the clock in the second half 鈥?he threw only four passes in the second half. The first half reminded him of his free-wheeling games at Oklahoma.“A little bit, yeah,” he said. “Everything seemed to be working. But that’s the way we want it here in Cleveland.”GETTING STARTEDThe Browns scored a touchdown on their opening drive for the first time in 14 games. It was the third straight game the Bengals allowed an opening touchdown.CHUBB KEEPS ROLLINGCleveland running back Nick Chubb had another big day, running 1 yard for a touchdown and catching a 14-yard TD pass over Brandon Wilson. He’s the third rookie in NFL history to have a rushing and a receiving TD in two consecutive games.INJURIESBrowns: Cleveland came out of its bye week as healthy as it’s been all season.Bengals: CB Dre Kirkpatrick also was inactive with shoulder injury. OL Cordy Glenn was out with a back injury, and fill-in Jake Fisher hurt his back late in the first half. CB Tony McRae suffered a concussion in the third quarter and gave two thumbs-up as he was wheeled off the field.UP NEXTThe Browns play at Houston on Sunday. The Bengals host the Broncos on Sunday. BEREA, Ohio (AP) — With a bright smile, easygoing nature and similar facial expressions, rookie cornerback Greedy Williams looks like a young Chris Rock. He’s a dead ringer for the comedian.“I tell people Cleveland Browns Hoodie , that’s my father,” Williams joked. The only rock the Browns need him to be is in their secondary. After questions about his toughness and tackling dropped him to the second round of last week’s NFL draft, Williams was selected by Cleveland, which traded up three spots to nab the former LSU standout. The Browns hope that pairing him with Denzel Ward, who made the Pro Bowl last season as a rookie, will stabilize their defensive backfield for years. If first impressions mean anything, Williams made a strong one Friday as the Browns opened their rookie minicamp to the media.Wearing No. 26, Williams was relaxed while answering some pointed questions, and then showed off some of his quickness and athleticism during a workout moved indoors by rain. One of the SEC’s best defensive backs, Williams was so confident he’d be taken in the first round that he went to Nashville for the draft with much of his family, including his fiancee and 2-year-old daughter. But as the night wore on, and without hearing his name announced by Commissioner Roger Goodell, Williams grew uneasy. He began to wonder and worry.Williams asked LSU teammate Devin White to fill him in on draft protocol.“I was like, ‘So everybody at the draft gets drafted, right?'” Williams said. “He was like, ‘No, a couple people didn’t get drafted last year.’ So I’m like, ‘Oh, my God.'”Once the first round ended, Williams knew there was only one thing to do — pack up.“I still had high energy, happy, and told my mom, ‘Let’s just go back home and do it with my other family,'” he said. “I told her ‘Day 2’s coming up.'”Williams was surrounded by 150 guests at a Holiday Inn in Shreveport, Louisiana, when the call came through from Browns general manager John Dorsey.“It was probably one of the best experiences of my life ,” he said.Once Dorsey welcomed Williams, he handed the phone to coach Freddie Kitchens, who had a different message for the cornerback. The team posted the exchange on Twitter.“You’re going to have to tackle a little bit now,” Kitchens said with a laugh. “You know that, right?”Williams understand the criticism on him entering the draft was his tackling, or lack thereof, and that may have caused him to slip. He’s not worried about it being a problem going forward.“I saw John Dorsey said we just need this guy to get somebody down and that’s me. I’m more than just getting somebody down,” he said. “I’m like tackling, hitting, whatever they need me to do, and I’m here to do it.”First, there was another issue to tackle — Williams’ boast that the Browns will play in the Super Bowl this season.Caught up in the excitement moments after being drafted, Williams made the bold prediction three times during a conference call with reporters. When he arrived in Cleveland, Williams met with Kitchens, who warned him to be more careful with his words.“I like the confidence and I like the excitement and the passion that he has,” Kitchens said. “I don’t know how many predictions he will be making. Greedy is a good kid, though. He is a really good kid. He was just full of excitement. I like excitement and I like the enthusiasm, and he has a lot of both.”NOTES: The Browns signed 15 undrafted free agents, including Scottish punter Jamie Gillan. Nicknamed “The Scottish Hammer,” Gillan, who played at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, is expected to compete with Britton Colquitt. … Kitchens had several former Browns players, including Hall of Famer Jim Brown and Bernie Kosar, speak to the rookies Thursday night. “I wanted them to see what it was to be a Cleveland Brown and what it meant to the city,” Kitchens said. “It went really well.”
